Worker killed after hose strikes him at Jurong construction site; MOM investigating
A 35-year-old construction worker died after he was struck by a hose while carrying out foundation works at a construction site along Jurong Port Road on Friday (Sept 11).Responding to queries from AsiaOne, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a work-related incident at a construction site at 37 Jurong Port Road at about 8.25pm.A 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic, said the police. Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play. Police investigations are ongoing.In a statement to AsiaOne, a Ministry of Manpower (MOM) spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the ministry is investigating the case involving a construction worker who died after being struck by a hose connected to a compressed air pump.MOM identified Keller Foundations (S E Asia) as the occupier and employer of the worksite, and said the company has been instructed to stop all concreting works at the worksite.
