Pensioner loses unlawful-eviction case after 16 days on Cape Town streets
A Western Cape High Court full bench has dismissed Sheree Foggitt’s challenge to her removal from a Haven Night Shelter facility, ruling that the temporary accommodation was not her “home” under the PIE Act. The court nevertheless criticised the authorities’ handling of the 70-year-old pensioner, who spent 16 days without accommodation in January and February 2025.
