2 Government sites in Mandai and Upper Jurong Road to be sold for purpose-built dormitories
Two new purpose-built dormitory (PBD) sites are set to be launched in Mandai and Upper Jurong Road in the second half of 2027, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Ministry of National Development (MND) said in a joint statement on Friday (Sept 11).Under the Government Land Sales Programme, MOM and MND will be releasing a new PBD site at Jurong Apartments which will be launched by JTC next year. This is on top of a separate site that was part of an announcement in March this year, which will be launched in the first quarter of next year.Lorong Lada Hitam 1 is expected to have a site area of 10.7ha and have room for 15,000 beds.The lease period for this plot of land will be 30 years, the ministries stated.The second launch site will be at Jurong Apartments on 529 Upper Jurong Road and will sport a site area of 2ha as well as house approximately 8,100 beds.It also shares a similar lease period of 30 years.In March, MOM and MND announced JTC's launch of three PDB sites, including Lorong Lada Hitam 1.
