MRT network hits 5th month of high reliability; extends record of no major delays to 10 months

Singapore's MRT network, excluding the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), recorded its 10th month without a major delay of more than 30 minutes in August.The monthly rail reliability report published by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) also stated that the overall MRT network’s Mean Kilometres Between Failure (MKBF) exceeded two million train-km for a fifth consecutive month.All MRT lines’ MKBF remain above one million train-km, including the oldest North-South (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL), said LTA on Friday (Sept 11).Rail reliability is mainly tracked using a 12-month moving average of the MKBF metric, which counts the average distance a train travels before it meets a delay of over five minutes. The provisional data shows the overall network's MKBF rose to 2.88 million train-km, up from the 2.37 million train-km in July.
