Moderate to heavy thundery showers expected over several parts of Singapore on Sept 11 afternoon
Heavy rain is expected over the northern, eastern, and central areas of Singapore on Friday (Sept 11) afternoon.In a weather update issued at 2.08pm, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said moderate to heavy thundery showers are expected over these areas between 2.20pm and 3.15pm.This was later extended to 3.45pm.At about 3pm, Singapore’s national water agency, PUB advised members of the public to avoid the stretch of Thomson Road between Balestier Road to Novena Rise; and, the junction of Steven Road and Balmoral Road, due to the risk of flash flood. The advisory is in force till about 4pm.Checks on the Meteorological Service Singapore's weather radar at 2.50pm show rain clouds over the western and eastern regions of Singapore.In its fortnightly weather forecast on Sept 1, the weatherman had said that localised short-duration thundery showers are expected over parts of the island in the late morning and afternoon on some days amid dry weather conditions.[[nid:744776]]
