Air quality improves as 24-hour PSI in central Singapore returns to moderate range
Singapore residents can breathe better again.After recording nearly a day of unhealthy air quality, the 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) in the central region slipped back into the moderate range at about 10pm on Thursday (Sept 10) night, and has continued into Friday morning.As at 10am on Friday, 24-hour PSI readings across all five regions in Singapore are in the moderate range.Meanwhile, 1-hour PM2.5 readings for all five regions are also within the normal range.In its daily haze update on Thursday evening, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said the 24-hour PSI for Singapore is forecast to remain in the high moderate to low unhealthy range.This is as moderate to dense smoke plumes continue to be detected from fires in southern Sumatra and Kalimantan.It added that smoke plumes from southern Sumatra were also observed to be drifting towards Singapore.
