Prague Unemployment Reaches 4% with 40,509 Job Seekers

<p>Unemployment in Prague rises to 4% at the end of August, with 40,509 people registered as job seekers at the Labour Office. The figure was 2.1% higher than in July and 15.7% higher than a year earlier. Despite the increase, Prague continued to record the lowest unemployment rate among Czechia’s regions. The national unemployment rate stood at 5% at the end of August. More people registered as job seekers A total of 5,368 people registered with the Prague Labour Office in August. That was 133 fewer than in July but 1,033 more than in August 2025. At the end of August, Prague had 37,811 people considered reachable for employment. This category covers people aged 15 to 64 who are not temporarily unable to work and are not taking part in retraining. The number of reachable job seekers increased by 822 compared with July and by 5,475 compared with the same month last year. Women accounted for 55.2% of all registered job seekers, with 22,378 women listed in the Labour Office records.
