6 women charged with public disorder acts relating to Gaza conflict

Six women have been charged under the Public Order Act on Wednesday (Sept 9) for their involvement in various pro-Palestine incidents at prohibited areas or participating in public assemblies and processions without a permit.Kyal Sin Linn Naing, 22, and Amirah Mokhlis, 33, each face one charge, while Dayana Noor Mohamed, 36, and Nurul Afiqah Kamel, 33, were slapped with two charges each.Nur Sabrina Kamel, 32, also received one charge under the Public Order Act, along with a charge of harassment.Elijah Tay, 24, received nine charges — six under the Public Order Act, two for refusing to answer a public servant's questions and the last for knowingly committing an act prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony between different racial groups.Nurul Afiqah and Dayana had allegedly taken part in a procession without a permit along the perimeter of the Istana on Feb 2, 2024.All of them are Singaporean, except for Kyal Sin Linn Naing, who is a Myanmar national and a Singapore permanent resident.Tay allegedly chanted the phrase, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" during an event that was livestreamed the same day.
