Singpass passkeys extended to Android users from Sept 9
Just slightly over two months after Singpass introduced a new passkey login for iPhone (iOS) users, the feature is now available to Android users too.Announcing this in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 9), the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) said the rollout begins on Sept 9.Users will receive notifications via their Singpass app in phases, reminding them to create their passkeys, the agency added."They should also keep their Singpass app updated to enjoy this new feature." a spokesperson said.Support for desktop logins is planned for by the end of 2026, according to GovTech.Providing an update since the June 30 rollout, GovTech said that about 800,000 users have since created their passkey in the Singpass app.The agency said it will continue to work with agencies such as the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and People’s Association (PA) to raise awareness and support users who need more help using passkeys to log in.
