Haze update for Sept 8: 24-hour PSI expected to remain in moderate to low unhealthy range
Singapore's 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) is expected to remain in the moderate to low unhealthy range, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in its daily update on Tuesday (Sept 8) evening. Air quality in Singapore remained in the moderate range for a third consecutive day on Tuesday, continuing an improved trend recorded since 9pm on Saturday.The 24-hour PSI readings for all regions in the Republic have remained in the moderate range at 6pm.However, the 1-hour PM2.5 readings are currently elevated in the central and western regions. This has been the case since 3pm and 5pm respectively. Explaining the situation, NEA said that moderate to dense smoke plumes continue to be observed from the fires in southern and central Sumatra and Kalimantan.In addition, some smoke haze have also drifted towards Singapore from isolated nearby fires.
