EM Services manager, firm director charged with corruption, money laundering offences
Two persons were on Monday (Sept 7) charged for their alleged involvement in corruption and money laundering offences.Ng Yin Hong, 56, a senior project manager at EM Services, and the 61-year-old director of Atlas Maintenance, Ng Choon Mong, were each handed one charge under the Prevention of Corruption Act.The senior project manager was also given an additional charge for acquiring, possessing, using, concealing or transferring benefits from criminal conduct. The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) said in a news release that the alleged offences took place between February and April 2023.At that time, EM Services was the managing agent of West Coast Town Council (WCTC), and Yin Hong is said to have accepted a bribe of $50,000 from Choon Mong as an inducement to advance the business interests of Atlas Maintenance in relation to a repairs and redecoration contract. Town councils in Singapore carry out repairs and redecoration programmes on a cyclical basis — at intervals of five to seven years.During such programmes, repainting, repairs, and upgrading works are carried out.
