Sim Hui Ting to succeed Desmond Chin as Commissioner of Charities from April 2027
Sim Hui Ting, group director and chief financial officer at the Skills and Workforce Development Agency, will take over as Commissioner of Charities and executive director of the Registry of Co-operative Societies from Desmond Chin on April 1 next year.Chin, 61, was appointed to his present roles in November 2020, after retiring as Commissioner of Prisons. Then aged 55, Chin had spent about 30 years as a career prison officer. He is credited with providing steady leadership to both the charities and co-operatives sectors during the Covid-19 pandemic."Mr Chin and his team worked to support charities and co-operatives through relief measures, digitalisation, and capability-building efforts, ensuring organisations could continue serving their communities when it mattered most," the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 3).
