Geylang pasar malam crash: Man charged over alleged etomidate-impaired driving that killed stall attendant

A man who allegedly drove a rental car into a Geylang night market stall while under the influence of etomidate, killing a 67-year-old woman, was charged in court on Wednesday (Sept 2).Muhammad Shafiq Razali, 41, faces seven charges over the fatal incident on July 11, 2025.They include driving under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving causing death as a serious offender, driving without a valid licence, and dangerous driving as a serious offender. He was also charged with using a vehicle without insurance coverage, failing to stop and provide his particulars after an accident, and failing to render assistance after an accident.According to the Straits Times, Shafiq appeared in court on Wednesday and asked for an adjournment as he wanted to engage a lawyer.The prosecution sought bail of $100,000, citing its intention to seek between 15 and 16 years' jail and a driving disqualification period of between 20 and 23 years if he claims trial.
