2 men to be charged with allegedly driving dangerously under influence of drugs
Two men, aged 20 and 35, will be charged in court on Thursday (Sept 3) for their alleged involvement in separate cases of driving dangerously under the influence of drugs. Police said on Wednesday that the cases happened on Oct 28 and Nov 26 last year. The first case on Oct 28, involving the 20-year-old, was uncovered following an three-vehicle accident on Jurong West Street 91.Investigations revealed that he had failed to move after the traffic light turned green, resulting in a bus overtaking his car from the right. The man then overtook the bus from its left and stopped his car, before driving across the centre divider kerb, onto the opposite side of the road.As he drove against the traffic, he collided into the right rear of another car and a van. He mounted another kerb and came to a stop, where he was observed to be unstable and disoriented. No injuries were reported in the accident, but a vaporiser was found his car and seized.A subsequent blood analysis by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) indicated the presence of etomidate.
