Trust in IEC declines to 81% despite positive voter experiences, HSRC survey finds
Trust in the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has dropped to 81% among voters who participated in the 2026 local government elections, down from 91% in 2016, despite largely positive assessments of the voting process, a Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) survey has found.
