67 MKs recommended Eisenkot to form government, 46 recommended Netanyahu
President Isaac Herzog announced at the conclusion of the consultations that 67 MKs had recommended Gadi Eisenkot to form the next government, compared to 46 who recommended Benjamin Netanyahu. Herzog clarified that despite the results, it remains unclear whether a government can be formed due to the parties' mutual refusals to cooperate with one another. He said he would hold personal talks with some party leaders before assigning the mandate on Sunday. "I intend to leave no stone unturned in an effort to encourage the parties to reach out to one another and build a stable and effective government for the people of Israel."
