Government enlists chiefs to locate owners of over 557,000 uncollected IDs before 2027 elections
Kenya’s immigration department is partnering with local chiefs and an e‑Citizen SMS alert system to clear a backlog of more than 557,000 uncollected national identity cards ahead of the January 2027 voter registration.
