8.5 million need jobs, yet SA bosses cannot find workers
South Africa is confronting a jobs paradox. Despite official unemployment of 33.6% and about 8.5 million people looking for work, 76% of employers surveyed in the 2026 Critical Skills Survey say they struggle to recruit critical skills locally.
