SIA flight's dramatic Perth landing attempt amid strong winds goes viral
It may have seemed like a close shave, but the dramatic landing attempt was all part of standard safety procedures for Singapore Airlines (SIA) pilots.SIA pilots of flight SQ213 had to approach the runway twice and performed a "go-around" before safely land a plane amid strong winds in Perth, according to a Facebook video by user Chris Perry last Saturday (Oct 31).The video has garnered over 2.6 million views, 7,300 likes and 1,800 comments as of Monday morning. In the video, an SIA plane can be seen approaching the runway at Perth Airport. However, the aircraft is seen abruptly banking to one side, bringing its right wing seemingly close to the ground. The plane then pulls upward, climbs away from the asphalt and returns to the air before making another landing attempt."High winds at Perth caused my sisters flight to have to go round again," Perry wrote in his post. "Thankfully the second attempt was a success."In the comments section, many users pointed out that the wing was quite close to the ground and that the situation looked dangerous.
