Hake quota unannounced ahead of 1 November season
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform has yet to announce the hake total allowable catch (TAC) for the 2026/27 season. The hake fishing season normally opens on 1 November. Ministry spokesperson Romeo Muyunda on Friday confirmed that the Cabinet has approved the hake TAC. “Yes, they have, and the minister is expected to make the announcement soon,” Muyunda said. He did not give a date for the announcement.
