Ο ΥΠΕΞ της Ρωσίας Λαβρόφ στις ΗΠΑ για τη σύνοδο της G20
Ο ρώσος υπουργός Εξωτερικών Σεργκέι Λαβρόφ έφθασε στις ΗΠΑ, προκειμένου να συμμετάσχει στη σύνοδο σε επίπεδο των επικεφαλής της διπλωματίας των κρατών της G20, μετέδωσε νωρίς το πρωί το ρωσικό κρατικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων TASS. Η ρωσική κυβέρνηση ανέφερε χθες Πέμπτη ότι ο κ. Λαβρόφ έχει σκοπό να ζητήσει να αρθούν οι κυρώσεις σε βάρος της Ρωσίας κατά τις εργασίες της συνάντησης αυτής, που έχει προπαρασκευαστικό χαρακτήρα ενόψει της συνόδου κορυφής της G20, τη 14η και τη 15η Δεκεμβρίου στο Μαϊάμι. 🇷🇺🇺🇸 Russia's foreign minister just landed in Atlanta to give a speech against sanctions... while still personally under American sanctions State news agency TASS says Sergey Lavrov arrived for the G20 foreign ministers' meeting the US is hosting, and Moscow says he'll use the stage to argue the world should drop its sanctions on Russia. Washington froze Lavrov's assets in February 2022, days after the invasion, so the man pitching an end to sanctions is still on the list himself. The trip lands right before a fresh round of talks between Moscow, Kyiv and Washington on ending the war. The timing works in his favor: Ukraine has paused its refinery strikes under US pressure, Washington already eased rules on Russian diesel to bring down fuel prices before the midterms, and Witkoff's peace plan is still on the table. Lavrov is coming to collect on that momentum. The question for the talks is what Kyiv gets back for everything it's already given up, because so far the only side being asked to show goodwill is Ukraine.
