Saudi HR Ministry denies canceling domestic worker recruitment from Ethiopia
RIYADH — The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has denied recent reports circulating about the cancellation of domestic worker recruitment contracts from a particular country through the Musaned platform, as well as claims linking these cancellations to a 30 percent increase in recruitment costs. The country referred to is Ethiopia. The ministry clarified that the measure was limited to a small number of stalled contracts due to challenges faced by certain overseas labor recruitment agencies, which affected their ability to fulfill their contractual obligations to licensed recruitment companies in the Kingdom. It explained that the cancellations were intended to protect beneficiaries' rights and safeguard the quality and reliability of recruitment services by addressing delays and mitigating their impact on the completion of recruitment procedures. The ministry reaffirmed that recruitment services for domestic workers remain available through the Musaned platform at the previously specified and approved costs. It stressed that the measures taken are unrelated to any changes in recruitment fees.
