Haze expected to ease with onset of inter-monsoon; thundery showers on most days in first half of November
Residents in Singapore can look forward to more respite from the haze and heat in the first two weeks of November. The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said in its fortnightly weather update on Thursday (Oct 29) that moderate to heavy thundery showers are expected over parts of the island on most days, with the showers extending into the evening on a few days. With the onset of the inter-monsoon period, winds will shift to become light and variable, thereby reducing the risk of smoke haze being transported from fires towards Singapore."Together with wetter conditions over Singapore and the nearby areas, the smoke haze situation for Singapore is expected to improve," the weatherman said.Total rainfall over the first fortnight of November is expected to be slightly above its long-term average over most parts of the island. During this period, daily maximum temperatures are expected to range between 33 and 35 deg C, although they could slightly exceed 35 deg C on a few days.
