NUS and NTU plan joint master's programme in nuclear engineering for 2027 as Singapore builds nuclear talent pipeline
The National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) are working towards launching a joint master's programme in nuclear engineering in 2027, as Singapore steps up efforts to build a pipeline of local nuclear talent and expertise.Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng announced the development at the Singapore Energy Lecture on Monday (Oct 26), alongside two new nuclear manpower development programmes aimed at public-sector officers and industry professionals."We have been progressively building our capabilities to make an informed decision on the potential deployment of nuclear energy in Singapore," Dr Tan said. The planned master's programme is one of three initiatives announced by Dr Tan as Singapore seeks to expand its pool of nuclear experts and professionals. A new Nuclear Manpower Development Programme for the public sector will provide opportunities for Singaporean public officers to gain on-the-job experience at leading global nuclear organisations, helping them strengthen their nuclear-related skills and competencies.
