Indonesia cuts natural gas exports to Singapore as it prioritises domestic demand
Indonesia has begun cutting natural gas exports to Singapore by a total of 31 billion British thermal units per day (BBTUD) from today (Oct 24), Indonesia media reported. This comes days after Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said that Indonesia would consider reviewing energy export agreements with countries that did not show mutual respect. The Straits Times reported on Saturday (Oct 24) that natural gas exports from Natuna regency would be reduced by 15 BBTUD, while another 16 BBTUD will be cut from pipelines in Sumatra, according to local media quoting Indonesia upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas.SKK Migas chief Djoko Siswanto said the cuts would take effect on Oct 24, with the reduction in Sumatra originating from the Jambi Merang gas field.“Starting tomorrow, we will reduce gas exports to Singapore by 15 BBTUD from Natuna and 16 BBTUD from Sumatra,” Djoko was quoted as saying on the sidelines of an energy industry awards ceremony in Jakarta on Oct 23, The Straits Times reported.
