Man reunited with lost wallet thanks bus captain: 'Brought back my faith in humanity'
A grateful man has praised an SMRT bus captain for helping him recover his lost wallet after it went missing on Oct 12. The man, Surya, told AsiaOne that he took SMRT Bus Service 61 from the Bugis area at around 10.50pm on the night of Oct 12.The 28-year-old alighted at Block 50 along Commonwealth Drive at around 11.25pm and only realised his wallet was missing once he reached home about 20 minutes later."I was totally upset and did not know what to do," said Surya. He returned to the bus stop opposite Block 50 the next morning hoping to find his wallet, to no avail. When the bus — Service 61 — arrived at 8am, Surya said he had no money to pay for the bus fare."I explained my situation to an Indian bus captain and told him that I wanted to go to Bukit Batok Interchange," said the construction worker.Although the two bus fares would only come up to $4.20, the bus captain, Surish Kumar Karuppiah, offered five $2 notes to Surya cover his bus fare.
