Council of Senior Scholars: Houthi Militia a terrorist group that violated sanctities
RIYADH — The Houthi militia’s attacks on civilians and civilian facilities in Yemen, which have undermined security and sown division, as well as its aggression against innocent people, violations of sanctities, and its attempted attacks on the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, “constitute terrorism by any measure,” according to General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the secretariat said these attacks reveal the extent of the Houthi militia’s terrorism and its audacity in violating God’s sanctities. It said the militia’s attempted attacks on the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah constitute terrorism by any measure, revealing the extent of the militia’s terrorism and its audacity in violating God’s sanctities. The statement stressed that the militia’s terrorism is no less dangerous than that of extremist groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda, adding that it goes further by spreading corruption on earth and committing aggression against Muslims. The secretariat described the attempted targeting of visitors to the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque as an even graver sin and act of aggression. It added that God foiled the militia’s plans through the vigilance of Saudi air defenses and the capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces. The militia’s crimes involved several forms of aggression, the statement highlighted, beginning with violations of the sanctity of human life, followed by those of property, security and stability, and attempts to violate the sanctity of Muslim holy sites, which God has exalted and commanded Muslims to revere. The secretariat said all Muslims have a duty to denounce the actions of this terrorist militia and stand united against anyone who attacks their holy sites.
