Can Modi’s $10 000 vision avoid the middle-income trap?
India wants to become a developed economy by 2047, but reaching a per-capita income of about $10,000 will require more than rapid GDP growth. It will need broader access to jobs, stronger female labour-force participation and a shift from services-led expansion towards inclusive, high-value production.
