11-year-old cyclist taken to hospital after accident with van opposite primary school in Hougang
An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital after an accident involving a van and a bicycle in Hougang on Wednesday (Oct 7). The incident occurred at the junction of Hougang Avenue 8 and Hougang Street 52, opposite Montfort Junior School. In response to AsiaOne's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the incident involving a van and a bicycle at 1.40pm. The boy, who was cycling, was conscious while being taken to the hospital.A 55-year-old man identified to be the van driver is assisting with ongoing investigations. Footage of the aftermath was shared on TikTok by user Eco98, showing a boy in school uniform lying on the road, surrounded by several onlookers. Among those at the scene were paramedics who appeared to be attending to the young cyclist, while a stretcher and a bicycle could also be seen nearby. An ambulance was parked further down the road. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also confirmed that it was alerted to the accident at 1.40pm.One person was conveyed to KK Women's and Children's Hospital, it told AsiaOne.
