newsdepo.com · world

By Milton Oluoch Police in Homa Bay have arrested eight suspects, including a man identified as Kassim Abdi Sebo, described by investigators as a suspected goon mobiliser, following an operation at the busy Homa Bay Bus Stage. The operation targeted Sebo, who was wanted in connection with a warrant of arrest issued by the Homa Bay Law Courts on August 14, 2026. Officers reportedly tracked him to the bus stage, where they moved in to execute the court order. However, the operation reportedly encountered resistance when seven men accompanying Sebo allegedly attempted to obstruct the officers and prevent them from carrying out the arrest. Police swiftly intervened and arrested the seven individuals, bringing the total number of suspects detained during the operation to eight. Those arrested alongside Sebo were identified as Achiando Victor Odhiambo, Isaac Masika Muliro alias Waigo, Oyeke Geoffrey Moses, Geoffrey Nchore, Odhiambo Wesley Arnold alias Mwas, Joseph Kabira and Alfred Nyagino. According to the police account, the seven are suspected of obstructing officers in the execution of their lawful duties. The circumstances surrounding the original warrant issued against Sebo were not detailed in the information released. The operation comes amid concerns about the use of organised groups to intimidate members of the public and disrupt lawful activities, although police have not established whether the suspects were connected to any wider network. All eight suspects remain in police custody as officers complete the necessary processing ahead of their expected arraignment in court. The arrests underscore the consequences individuals may face for obstructing police officers executing lawful court orders. However, the suspects remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
