National Security Implications of the Security and Intelligence Agencies Act, 2026 (Act 1168) of Ghana

Ghana’s current security situation is characterised by interconnected threats such as terrorism, violent extremism, organised crime, cybercrime, espionage, pandemics and climate insecurity. Such a situation requires the establishment of security institutions capable of providing an integrated security and intelligence system with effective legal structures that allow for an efficient reaction to security threats. For this reason, national security has moved from traditional security and defence to security and intelligence governance and national resilience.
