Flydubai flight makes emergency landing at Tabuk airport; two pilots injured
TABUK — A flydubai flight made an emergency landing at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk on Wednesday after issuing a distress call, with the captain and co-pilot sustaining injuries, the airport operator said. According to a statement by Cluster2 Airports, the airport’s air traffic control center received a distress call from flydubai flight FZ1073 requesting an emergency landing at 8:44 a.m. on Sept. 30. An emergency was declared at the airport and assistance was mobilized for the aircraft, which landed safely at 9:45 a.m. local time. The captain and co-pilot were found to have sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment, the statement said. Passengers were provided with the necessary assistance in the terminal, while coordination was underway with the airline to provide a replacement aircraft. The airport said it remains committed to regulations and instructions issued by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, as well as international agreements related to aviation safety and the safety of passengers and crew. Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident, the statement added.
