Job losses deepen as 95,000 jobs vanish in a year
South Africa’s formal non-agricultural sector lost 14 000 jobs between March and June 2026, led by declines in manufacturing, business services, trade and transport. Gross employee earnings fell by R4.8 billion during the quarter.
