Singapore-registered car drives off after ramming into JB food stall
Malaysian police are on the hunt for the driver of a Singapore-registered car which drove off after ramming into a food stall in Johor Bahru in the early hours of Monday (Sept 28).The police received a report by a 41-year-old technician at about 2.27am, Johor Bahru south district police chief Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei told New Straits Times.According to the complainant, he was dining at the porridge stall when the suspect got out of his car and approached him. The suspect then swung an iron pipe at him, which he managed to evade. The driver, who appeared to be intoxicated, then returned to his car after members of the public arrived to defuse the situation, said the police. He subsequently sped off in a Singapore-registered car, The Star reported. Footage of the incident shared on social media showed a white car driving through the stall and crashing into tables and chairs. People in the area can also be heard shouting in alarm.Police said the case is being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for dangerous driving.
