Prince Faisal, Marco Rubio reaffirm Saudi-US strategic ties, navigation security
WASHINGTON — Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington D.C., on Monday. During the meeting, they reviewed the strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America and ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries.They discussed major regional and international developments, foremost among them the security and political developments in the region, the situation in Yemen, and the efforts being made in this regard. Prince Faisal and Rubio underscored the importance of protecting the security of navigation and freedom of passage in international waterways, particularly the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, in a manner that contributes to regional stability and ensures the continued flow of trade and global supply chains. They also emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the Kingdom and the United States on issues of common interest, as well as supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing regional crises and promoting security, peace, and stability. Saudi Ambassador to the United States of America Princess Reema bint Bandar; Advisor to Minister of Foreign Affairs for Lebanese Affairs Prince Yazid Al-Farhan; Advisor to Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Prince Musab Al-Farhan; and Advisor and Special Envoy of Minister of Foreign Affairs for Negotiations and Peace Efforts Manal Radwan attended the meeting.
