Ghana Army warns new soldiers against social media misuse, uniform abuse
The Ghana Army has cautioned newly trained soldiers against misusing social media and the military uniform, urging them to uphold the reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and obey the laws of Ghana. The warning was issued at the passing-out parade of 646 recruits of the Basic Infantry Training Course (BITC) 1-26 at the Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) at Shai Hills in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, September 25, 2026. The recruits reported for training on March 27 and underwent six months of intensive instruction in physical training, drill, tactics, weapon handling, fieldcraft, map reading, military law and first aid. Reviewing Officer and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Southern Command, Brigadier General Edward Awaribey, said 650 recruits commenced the course, but four were unable to complete the training for medical and disciplinary reasons.
