Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirm collective defense under Makkah agreement
RIYADH — The chiefs of defense and general staff of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye met in Riyadh on Friday, reaffirming their commitment to collective defense and the immediate implementation of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.During the meeting, the military chiefs reviewed the security situation and threats facing Saudi Arabia and strongly condemned the attacks targeting Makkah and the Kingdom’s civilian and economic infrastructure.They praised the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi Armed Forces in safeguarding citizens and residents and protecting the Kingdom’s security.The participants discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation among the armed forces of the three countries, including enhanced intelligence cooperation, military coordination and the integration of capabilities to bolster deterrence and collective defense.They also highlighted the longstanding relations and mutual trust among the peoples and armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.The participants said the Riyadh meeting reflected the strength of their defense partnership and their shared determination to immediately translate the commitments contained in the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement into effective military cooperation.They strongly reaffirmed their commitment to collective defense, underscoring the determination of the three countries to defend Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
