The Nimuru Bridge near Malala Catholic Secondary School along the North Coast Highway in Madang Province collapsed at around 9am today, disrupting road access between Bogia, Sumkar and Madang district. The collapse occurred after a heavily loaded gravel truck attempted to cross the aging bridge. The bridge gave way, leaving the truck partly submerged in the water and causing significant damage to the structure.
