Man arrested for allegedly driving under influence of drugs after accident in Ang Mo Kio
A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs after a two-vehicle accident in Ang Mo Kio in the early hours of Tuesday (Sept 22) morning.The incident, involving a taxi and a car, happened at about 1.45am along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 towards Buangkok Green.A photograph of the aftermath on social media shows the car stopped across two lanes on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5.Debris could be seen around the black car and its airbags are activated.Meanwhile, the male driver is seen sitting by the roadside.Police told AsiaOne that driver was attended to by Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics but refused to be taken to hospital.No other injuries were reported in the incident.A vaporiser and a pod found in his possession were seized and referred to the Health Sciences Authority.The police added that he was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of driving under the influence of drugs carries a penalty of up to 12 months' imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000 or both.
