Man throws bike down Bukit Batok HDB block, locks himself in flat during 6-hour standoff with police
A man allegedly threw down several items, including a bicycle, from his flat on the 20th floor and locked himself in, resulting in a six-hour standoff with the police.The incident took place on Monday (Sept 21), at around 11am when the police received calls for assistance at Block 393, Bukit Batok West Avenue 5, Shin Min Daily News reported on Tuesday.When officers arrived, they noted that items had been thrown from a high floor of the block, the police told AsiaOne.It was later established that a 47-year-old man had locked himself in his unit and refused to open the door. He was arrested later.At the scene, Shin Min reporters noted that debris was strewn across the ground, including shoes, clothing, cardboard boxes, hair dryers, children's scooters and a bicycle.A resident who declined to be named told Shin Min that she was disposing garbage when she saw things being tossed down."At first it was just shoes, but later they even threw down a bicycle," the resident said."When people started seeing this, they quickly called the police."
