Since 2018, the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq’s (MEK) Resistance Units have stepped up their activities dramatically across the nation, not only spreading the Iranian Resistance’s messages , but also targeting the regime’s symbols and repressive centers.

These activities have inspired and boosted the morale of Iranian youth and citizens in the face of the regime’s brutal repression and its efforts to overshadow the public’s deeply-rooted disdain for the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and its Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

At the same time, an increased number of young people joining the ranks of the Resistance Units garnered the attention and concern of Khamenei, Rouhani, the Judiciary Chief, and others. In May 2020, the Judiciary announced the arrests of two award-winning students at Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology because of their alleged ties to the MEK. The two students had won gold and silver medals in The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.
