GLEN JEAN, W.Va. (AP) - A National Park Foundation grant will enable a park in West Virginia to bring second- and eighth-grade students to the park to try out two new curriculum programs.
New River Gorge National River recently received the Open Outdoors for Kids grant. New River Gorge said in a news release the grant will allow over 1,500 local students to have hands-on learning experiences there this school year.
The release said the park’s education staff has been working with local teachers to create new curriculum-based educational programs for local schools.
The grants announced last month will allow over 200,000 children across the country to visit national parks this school year.
