2024 NCAA Tournament projections: NC State, Oregon in; St. John's, Seton Hall left out

The day college basketball fans have been waiting for has finally arrived!

Selection Sunday is here, which means it's time for FOX Sports bracket forecaster Mike DeCourcy's updated NCAA Tournament projections.

Purdue (Midwest), UConn (East), Houston (South) and North Carolina (West) remain the No. 1 seeds in DeCourcy's latest bracket forecast. The Huskies defeated Marquette in Saturday's Big East Tournament championship game.

Meanwhile, Tennessee, Arizona, Marquette and Iowa State are listed as the No. 2 seeds, while Duke, Illinois, Creighton and Baylor make up the No. 3 seeds.

Kansas, Auburn, Kentucky and Alabama are the No. 4 seeds in DeCourcy's latest projections.

The following programs have secured automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament: Vermont (America East), NC State (ACC), Iowa State (Big East), UConn (Big East), Long Beach State (Big West), Western Kentucky (Conference USA), Saint Peter's (MAAC), Akron (MAC), Howard (MEAC), New Mexico (Mountain West), Oregon (Pac-12), Grambling State (SWAC), Grand Canyon (WAC), Morehead State (Ohio Valley), Longwood (Big South), Drake (Missouri Valley), Stetson (Atlantic Sun), James Madison (Sun Belt), Samford (Southern), Wagner (Northeast), Oakland (Horizon), Charleston (CAA), Saint Mary's (West Coast), South Dakota State (Summit), McNeese (Southland), Colgate (Patriot), Montana State (Big Sky).

As for teams on the bubble, DeCourcy has Oklahoma, Florida Atlantic, Colorado and Texas A&M as his last four teams in the tournament. St. John's, Virginia, Seton Hall and Pitt are listed as the first four out, while Providence, Indiana State, Villanova and Kansas State are the next four out.

The Big 12 has the most representatives in DeCourcy's compilation, with nine teams. The SEC has eight teams represented, while the Big Ten and Mountain West each have six teams in the tournament, according to DeCourcy's latest projections. The ACC and Pac-12 have four teams, while the Big East has three teams. The West Coast Conference, Atlantic 10 and American follow with two teams apiece.
