Brandon Ingram not 'confident' NBA will finish season

The NBA is set to resume at the end of July, with teams getting ready to head to Orlando this week. But there is increasing concern about the reality of trying to finish the season in the midst of a nationwide pandemic, especially with several players testing positive for coronavirus. Pelicans All-Star Brandon Ingram admits that he is not feeling great about the season actually being completed.

"I’m not that confident about that," Ingram told Nola.com about the season finishing as planned. "New cases are coming up. Different things are happening. I’m not very confident. But they’ve got us going to Orlando on [Wednesday], so we’ll see."

Last month, the NBA revealed that 16 out of 302 players tested positive for coronavirus, though commissioner Adam Silver says that none of them are seriously ill. While Ingram may be doubtful about the NBA's odds of finishing, he said he never doubted whether or not he would go to Orlando.

"I didn’t look at it like I had a choice of going or not," Ingram said. "My teammates knew I didn’t question it or anything. I just wanted to play basketball at the end of the day. I always go back to me being hurt. It made me want to come out and play basketball all the time. When I got the chance to do it, I was going to go do it and be full force in it. I know my teammates know I’m there 100%, 110%. I’ve got to be there. It wasn’t a question."
