On Sunday, representatives for U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he had been hospitalized due to COVID-19. Johnson started having symptoms ten days ago.
Less than a day later, representatives say his condition is deteriorating and he has been moved to an intensive care unit.
In a public statement, a Downing Street spokesperson said: “Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St. Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
“The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.
“The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all the NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”
Needless to say, this is a developing situation.
Like Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Boris Johnson was slow to take steps to minimize the spread of the coronavirus, even boasting he “shook hands with everybody” when he visited patients suffering from the disease.
