Last Friday, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas joined Chuck Todd on Meet the Press Daily to discuss the latest developments in the 2020 Democratic primary, including the potential entry of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg into the race. With Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren in the race, Moulitsas suggests that Michael Bloomberg will serve as a perfect foil for these two candidates who have made income inequality a key issue in their campaigns.
”[Michael Bloomberg] exemplifies the argument about the wealthy having too much influence. He’s going to come in, he’s going to spend millions of dollars a day — like you just said — and he’s going to once again sort of remind people why a wealth tax is such a good idea. So I don’t think he has actually has any impact as far as numbers are concerned; he’s not going to get any real support in the polls. His 20 billionaire buddies aren’t going to be enough to give him anything real tangible as far as support goes, but he’s going to be a great foil to run against when your argument is that the wealthy have too much influence.”

Chuck Todd also brought up Elizabeth Warren’s previous affiliation as a Republican, and Moulitsas rebuffed concerns about her past:
”The fact is that even when she was a Republican, if you read her writings and her public sayings, she was already pretty left of center already. She was a Massachusetts Republican, which is a very, very different beast than a Washington Republican nowadays.”
