RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina wildlife facility will not be receiving a one-year-old giraffe as scheduled after an animal park in New York decided to call off the move.

Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York, had announced in September that Tajiri (tah-JEER’-ee) the giraffe would be moved in late October to the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Park, located in Harnett County. Tajiri is the offspring of April the giraffe. April’s pregnancy drew more than 232 million YouTube live views during a seven-week period.

But in a Saturday social media post, the New York facility announced it was forced to cancel Tajiri’s transfer. It said “requirements and deadlines were not satisfied” to complete the animal’s move.

The North Carolina wildlife facility did not immediately return a Sunday email seeking comment.
