Look, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), it really isn't hard. At all. Here's your colleague and supposed bff in the Senate, Sen. Lisa Murkowski speaking about the allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
"We are now in a place where it’s not about whether or not Judge Kavanaugh is qualified. […] It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed."
And you're out there playing dumb. Literally.
You might try Google? Of course, it might just not be an act. You're still stuck in the timeline where all that we were worried about with this guy is whether women will still be able to decide what could happen to their bodies medically. The first thing out of your mouth: "First of all, I do not believe he's going to repeal Roe v. Wade."
Catch the hell up with life! We're now at the point where it's pretty damned clear that the man cannot be trusted PERSONALLY with women's bodies! Set aside the fact that he's lied through the whole damned process, beginning with his very first public appearance. He's lied about torture. He's lied about stolen documents. He's lied about his work to put anti-choice judges in the judiciary. He lied about his underaged drinking!
At this point it hardly matters what Collins does on this vote, at least not where she's personally concerned. She's not going to redeem herself no matter what. She's a laughingstock that the right will happily dispense with in 2020 and the middle and the left will abandon.
What does matter is that the rights of women, of people of color, of LGBTQ people, of workers—of everybody but the rich, white men Kavanaugh represents—are in jeopardy with this nominee. Maybe Murkowski can convince her of at least that much and bring her around before it's too late.
