Kevin Love: LeBron inspired him after panic attack admission
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Love revealed during an interview with Carson Daly for NBC’s “TODAY” how LeBron James shared a powerful message with him shortly after his admission that he had suffered a panic attack during a game this past season.

NBC previewed the interview on Friday’s show. It will air in its entirety on Monday.

Love revealed in a powerful essay for The Players’ Tribune published in March that had suffered a panic attack and sought mental health treatment in the wake of the incident. The Cleveland Cavaliers star revealed shortly after the admission that the response not only was “overwhelming,” but also “universally positive.”

At the time of the essay, Love credited then-Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan — now with the San Antonio Spurs — for speaking publicly about his battles with depression, saying it inspired him to admit things publicly himself.

James also voiced his support for Love shortly after the essay was published with an inspiring tweet.

James of course is no longer Love’s teammate having moved on to join the Los Angeles Lakers. And yet, it should not be surprising in the least that the two remain close, having met up recently for a workout.
