After their victory, they were presented with the Campbell Bowl as the playoff winners of the West. Nobody from their team, led by captain Alex Pietrangelo, touched the trophy: The Boston Bruins, which swept the Carolina Hurricanes to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, did the same thing and did not touch the Prince of Wales Trophy upon clinching their series. There is a superstition that you should not touch the trophy until it’s the ultimate one — the Stanley Cup. But from 2016-2018, the three teams did touch their conference trophy and went on to win it all, so maybe the superstition is overrated. Read more
